Modern Fashion Dolls
With the introduction of Mel Odom's Gene doll in 1995, a whole new genre of doll collecting began. The outstanding costumes and intriguing stories set around Gene, Madra, Trent and Violet Waters have set a high standard for others to follow.
Robert Tonner released Tyler Wentworth and has continued to challenge the doll-making world with beautiful dolls and stunning outfits. With the demise of the Effanbee Company, Tonner took over the production of Brenda Starr with a new sculpture.
The prestigeous Madame Alexander Company created Alexandra Ford together with a range of friends. These dolls also have impressive wardrobes of clothes.
The talented doll designer Sandra Billoto shared the Butterfly Ring girls with the doll world. After a hesitant start, these dolls with the additional sparkle in their eyes have returned to temp the collectors of fashion dolls. There are five diferent characters.

Some other companies release dolls in the 15-1/2" to 16 inch size, but they are no longer being developed and released. They include Daisy and Willow, the British Mod Birds and Eve the beautiful photo-journalist.
